Summary: Short fic. Sarah Jane's thoughts following 'The Empty Planet' and is romance on the cards for Clyde & Rani?
Just Sarah Jane
Sarah Jane marked the page in her book, putting it down on the coffee table to continue reading tomorrow. It had been a busy day, doing a lot of research for her new article, so she decided to call it a night. Turning all the lights off downstairs, she headed to her room. She was about to draw the bedroom curtains when she saw something out of the window.
Two young people walking closely together, huddling together to stay warm. They were both dressed up a bit, the guy was wearing jeans and a shirt with a jacket, and the girl was wearing a blue top and a black skirt, tights and heeled boots. The guy was holding a bag of popcorn in one hand, whilst the girl was laughing at something he had said. Upon looking closer at them Sarah Jane noticed that it was Clyde and Rani. She gave a very big smile as she curiously watched them walk to Rani's front door.

"I had a lot of fun, thanks Clyde" Rani smiled, feeling slightly bashful, as they stood at the front door. Rani now holding her front door key in her hand.
"You're welcome, I had fun too" Clyde smiled "Cinema is nothing compared to hunting aliens, really, but hey at least we got popcorn out of it."
Rani giggled "So, I'll see you at school tomorrow?"
"Yeah...night then" Clyde and Rani felt a bit awkward, as they reached in for a brief hug.
"See ya" Rani said as Clyde walked back up the path.
As he was leaving Rani felt the sudden urge to call him back, she couldn't let him get away, not this time.
"Clyde, wait!" He turned around swiftly as Rani approached him, asking "Can we do that again?"
"You want another hug?" Clyde looked a little bemused.
Rani chuckled, embarrassed about what she was going to ask "No, I mean...can we go out again, soon?"
"If you like, Luke's back on the weekend so the three of us could do something?"
"No I meant" Rani moved daringly close to Clyde, so close he could almost feel her cool breath on his face on this cold November night "Just the two of us."
"What are you suggesting?" Clyde could not stop gazing into her dark eyes, it was as though they were hypnotising him.
"What do you think?" Rani said seriously.
Clyde felt his heartbeat treble as the two of them moved closer and they shared their first kiss.

Sarah Jane gave a smile and continued to watch them. She knew Clyde and Rani had been through a lot together this week, saving the world from robots and bringing everyone back to Earth, is a lot for two teenagers. Sarah Jane thought about how scared they must have been, but she was so proud of both of them, they had come such a long way since she first met them. But just watching the pair of them made Sarah Jane think a rather solemn thought. They were growing up now, and soon enough they would be going off to University or getting proper jobs, carving own lives for themselves. With eachother. Even that last thought couldn't cheer Sarah Jane up, as she realised they wouldn't be around to help save the day anymore, she would be alone. Again.
