Peter looked around at his paradise. Neverland was everything he had dreamed of, and best of all, when he woke up it was still there. So many people had to wake up and face the facts that their dreams were gone the second they opened their eyes. And Peter had always known, even before he was exposed to all that stardust and made a boy forever, that as long as he woke up to his dreams that nothing would ever have to change. Recently, though, his dreams had begun to stray. From the idilic green trees standing out against a perfect blue sky to a girl. Just a girl; a silly girl! He was Peter Pan, the One-and-Only Child, and he was becoming distracted by a girl. Ridiculous. His feet made a soft sound against the dirt path he had trod so many times before. This was his home, or as close as he had ever had. With a deep sigh, he took off. Savouring the feeling of the air beneath him, the world below him. He was PETER PAN, a miracle! All good things must come to an end however, and Peter knew his was near. Everybody needs to grow up sometimes; every boy must become a man. Peter had taken longer than most, true, but he still knew it was time. This place though, this wonderful place! Would he ever be able to return? He could feel his heart breaking in his chest as he thought of all his adventures, all the Lost Boys. Was this what growing up meant? Leaving everything you've ever known behind for a future that you have no clue might happen in?

"Tink.". Though his voice was soft, she didn't fail to appear. She never had; even when all hope should've deserted her, she'd come through for him.

"Oh Tink…" For the first time in a long time, tears began to fall softly down Peter's face. Though he'd tried to find a mother throughout the years, he realised now that Tinkerbell was more than anything he could have asked for. Even now, she seemed to understand. More than he did, apparently. Why did he have to go? Why couldn't everyone come to Neverland, and no one ever had to grow up, and they could all have lots and lots of fun forever and ever. Peter knew that could happen though; but he wished sorely it could. Neverland was his home, and always would be. Time to leave it's physical manifestation behind, keep it in his soul forever. He hugged Tinkerbell close to his heart, letting their tears mingle. She was coming with him, no question. She would have to become human though; how would she adjust to that? Looking down at her, he couldn't imagine life without her.

It was time. As the sunset painted the horizon with it's soft oranges and reds and the sun hung low over the ocean, Peter Pan bid goodbye to Neverland. It would remain with him forever, but first he had one wish to make. He needed this; otherwise nothing would be worth it. Closing his eyes tight, Tinkerbell hovering at his shoulder, he made the most well thought out wish he'd ever made.

"I wish I could go back in time to Molly and not get exposed to the starstuff so much that I didn't grow up but I still want to know and be friends with Molly and if she wants maybe we can get married but I don't want to make her because then that's not very right." As his world swirled around, warping him back to reality in which it was inevitable that from the time he left we would return, he uttered a last, emotional remark filled with all the gratitude and love he was filled with, "Goodbye Neverland. I'll never forget you, ever. My window will always be open for you or any Lost Boys that might need help."

His feet hit the ground of a world much different to his previous life, and he looked around until he saw Molly. And, though you couldn't see it, Peter Pan had started to grow up. Just in the little bit that all children do, getting taller a billionth of an inch every minute, etc.

It was time for the One-And-Only Child to become a man.
