It hated them and It knew that they hated It in return. Back at the time in It's life when it still went by the name "Sasuke" he had a best friend and another close friend that he thought was marginally attractive. As the time stretched from graduation to the chuunin exams and even up to the mission to escort the runner that led to that fateful encounter with the Lightning Sword of the 4th Hokage, It could have honestly said that Sasuke had grown to love his teammates. Love however, was a silly fantasy that only children could believe in, once you had become saturated by life at a certain point one could see the folly in that silly emotion.
On that very mission It had been reminded of the word uttered by the thing that it once knew as "Itachi". Hate. Hate was the fuel that drove the shinobi world and it was what it needed to complete it's objective. Sent reeling by this rude awakening Sasuke rushed to help his best friend complete the mission only to find that the enemy had already been vanquished by Naruto, when Sasuke saw that he had failed where Naruto had succeeded he realized that his shinobi fuel, his hate was sorely lacking and that was the beginning of Sasuke's transformation into It. At that same time Itachi also began to change from being a person to being a goal and he was not just a mere objective but he was the purpose for It's very existence. Once his objective was finished It had no good reasons to continue existing, dead or a body for another it did not matter the mission would be accomplished.
Recently a dim realization came to It, back when he was still Sasuke, he may have been disturbed, maybe even horrified at the rejection of his friends. However it was that very rejection that cemented the process that changed Sasuke into It. The pretty pink-haired girl bawling her eyes out and blubbering about her undying love for him. He remorselessly rejected her and knocked her out and promptly left Konoha. Sasuke's rambunctious best friend was a bit harder to deal with however. They fought to the threshold of their abilities even going beyond what should have been possible, before rejecting Naruto in much the same way that he had rejected Sakura before striking a blow that should have been fatal.
They had loved Sasuke and he had loved them but it wasn't enough, Itachi had ceased being Itachi and became the ultimate goal and It had ceased being Sasuke and became a force for accomplishing the ultimate goal. All that is left in what was called Sasuke is shinobi fuel, hate. Ironically those that once fought alongside him must hate him by now, their was no alternative. Sasuke had personally rejected then and attacked them, one almost fatefully and then he had left their beloved Konoha hell-bent on beginning his transformation. After such things their was no way they could go back to loving what was once known as Sasuke, no all they should have left for It is hate.
