Has it already been three years? Helena thought. She watched the way the moonlight reflected against the surface of the lake, but every so often she would glance up at Andy. Her boyfriend sat next to her, his blue eyes never leaving the lake. Helena self-consciously pushed a piece of her curly auburn hair back behind her ear, and looked back at the water's surface. She wanted something to happen, but she didn't want to be the one to start things for fear of him rejecting her - even if she knew that he wouldn't.
Growing up with twelve older sisters, most of whom seemed perfectly fine with either pretending she was invisible or convincing her she was the daughter of the family's gardner, had not done very much for Helena's self-esteem. She may have acted normally around people she barely knew or had just met, but those who got close to her got a chance to see the insecure and shy little girl that she had buried deep inside her.
Andy was one of those people.
He didn't need her to be like her sisters, like her parents had insisted for her entire life ("Helena, why can't you get good grades like your sisters? Why can't you be as pretty as your sisters? Why can't you be like your sisters?") , he just needed her to be herself. It was this need of his that had made her fall in love with him in the first place.
Just kiss me already. Helena thought in exasperation, a faint blush appearing on her cheeks as she stared at ripples beginning to form on the lakes surface, caused by a sudden breeze.
Almost like he knew what she was thinking, Andy turned his head towards her. Helena's eyes flicked towards his face briefly, and her cheeks turned a faint shade of red. The redheaded male was suddenly leaning in closer, closer, she could feel his breath on her lips -
"Marry me."
Helena jerked away from her boyfriend, staring at him with wide eyes. Andy stared right back, and she could see panic rising in his eyes. Even with all of his cheerfulness, Helena knew that having spent most of his entire life being completely ignored by his older brother had left a deep sense of unconfidence in himself. Even if said brother was doing his best to make up for it now, it wasn't something that could just disappear over the course of a few days.
The smallest of blushes rising in her cheeks, the youngest Westerguard nodded. "Y-yeah."
Instantly, a grin grew across Andy's face, and without a moments hesitation, he pulled her in for a kiss.
A few minutes later, Helena was buckling up her protective headgear. Andy grinned, gesturing to his car. He was wearing a helmet just like hers. "Let's go!" Andy cheered, opening the passenger door for her. Helena rolled her eyes, but she smiled despite this as she slipped into her seat. Andy quickly got into the drivers seat, and he flashed her another grin before he started the car -
- and the two of them went speeding away like they were on a roller coaster.
I'm marrying a fool… Helena thought as she gripped the handlebar above her window so tightly her knuckles turned white, while her other fist was clenched so tightly crescent-shaped scars from her fingernails were appearing on her palm. She glanced sideways at Andy, a small smile appearing on her face when she noticed the crazy grin. But he's my fool.
Andy looked over at her then, and gave her another smile.
"Don't take your eyes off the road!"
Taurus:
Needs the feeling of security
… because I can totally see Andy doing this. The last part ("Don't take your eyes off the road!") isn't a part of the ad, I just thought it would fit.
Names were totally stolen from nevvt's "A Brother More Like Me". If you haven't read it yet, do so immediately. It is awesome.
