In The Garden

"Isn't it wonderful?"

Hinata giggled, watching the fish glide lazily in the water. She smiled at Sasuke, pale lavendar eyes sparkling.

He blushed, looked away to continue his thoughts.

So they sat together in the garden, silver moonlight dancing on the small riverbed in front of them, gorgeous white fish sliding along it as if it were glass. Sasuke glancing warily at the excited girl next to her, too entranced in the animals to notice. It really was like magic...

He rested his head on his arms, silently staring at the dewey grasses that wet their bare feet. The way the light was held in the dewe-drops was almost amazing, like little gray fireflies were trapped inside. He blinked.

What seemed like hours passed without a sound, and the silence that was usually a welcome thing began to make Sasuke anxious, as if he were waiting for something to happen, for her to say something.

"Hinata?"

There was that smile, that warm, gentle smile that was always desired.

"Yeah, Sasuke?"

He looked down for a few moments, as if to contemplate what to say. He had just started the conversation, and he didn't intend to end it anytime soon.

"Why did you bring me here?"

She smiled again, and for a moment her eyes caught the moonlight.

She truly was a beautiful girl. She giggled.

"Because I like you, silly!"

Sasuke blushed and quickly looked away.

Good, so she liked him. But how did he feel..? He summoned up his courage...

...And planted a small kiss on her lips, feeling her face grow warm as they made contact for the first time that night.

"I like you, too."
