Waiting for You

"My angel." He used to whisper into her ears.
"My god." She used to murmur back as they were in each other's arms.
Then the night would go on as they sat together in silence. It was normally silent between them. They showed their love like that. He was her salvation and she was his. They had no one else but each other. They would lie together in the meadow and stare at the stars until the sun came up. Everything was well before he was gone, murdered by a blonde boy.
Now he was gone.
Everything she had was gone.
Konan balled her hands up into fists, fighting back the tears that tried to break free from her grasp.
"Pein…." She managed to choke out as she thought of her beloved partner. "I will avenge you, I promise."
She relaxed her fists and fell to the ground, wrapping her arms around herself. Her sobs broke out and echoed throughout the hallway.
She was the only one left. Yahiko died for her, Jiraiya-sensei was killed, Nagato sacrificed himself for Naruto's village, and Pein was murdered. She was alone in this dark world, with no one to comfort her, take away her pain. Even though Pein was Nagato, she liked to think of them separately. Her friend was Nagato, her love was Pein. Each held a different place in her heart. The Pein she knew was in Yahiko's body, yet he acted alone. He broke free from Nagato's grasp and loved her. He loved her with his emotion-less body, but his heart was pure. Konan sobbed harder as she remember the times Pein protected her, and loved her dearly.
"Konan, my angel, don't cry." A familiar voice told her. "Join me. This is where you belong."
Pein.
His voice.
"Yes, my god. I will join you." Konan whispered.
"My angel, I'll be waiting for you."
Quietly, Konan took a kunai in her hand. Sobbing, she held it in front of her heart.
"Wait for me, Pein. I'm coming."
"I'll be there, my angel. Waiting for you."
She plunged the kunai into her heart.
"I'll be there waiting for you."
