"But I don't wanna!" young Alfred shouted from under the bed.

Arthur sighed for what felt like the hundredth time. "Look, I don't you don't like needles, but you have to go get a shot. You don't want to get sick do you?" Arthur had been kneeling by the bed for half an hour now, and he was now closer to getting Alfred out than he had been earlier. "Look, Matthew isn't scared. He's ready to go," he said, hoping that if he used Alfred's brother as an example, Alfred would come out

"So? Let him take both of our shots!" At that suggestion, Matthew quickly scrambled under the bed along with Alfred.

"I don't want to get shots anymore!" he cried.

"Don't worry Mattie. He can't get us while we're under here; he's too big," Alfred said calmly.

Arthur let his head fall in his hands. "I never should've mentioned shots," he muttered to himself. "I should've just put them in the car and driven to the bloody hospital." He tried to think of some way to bribe them. Candy maybe? "Alright, look you two. If you come out and don't make a big fuss about the shots, we can stop and you can each pick out some candy."

"No way!" Alfred shouted. He poked his head out a little. "We're not giving in that easily!"

Arthur's eyebrow began twitching. For a little kid, he sure can be a smart-arse sometimes. "Fine. How about candy and…I'll let you stay up late and watch a movie."

"Alfred? That doesn't sound too bad," Matthew sniffed.

"No," Alfred hissed. "We need to see how far he'll go."

Arthur stood up abruptly, walking out of the room. Both boys poked their heads out, wondering where their caretaker had gone. Unknowing to them, he was right outside their bedroom in the hall, waiting for when they would venture out.

"Is he gone?" Matthew asked.

"I think so…We should go run outside and hide in one of the trees before he gets back!" Alfred grinned. They both set off running out of the room, but were stopped by arms grabbing both of them.

"No!" Alfred shouted, struggling against Arthur. "I don't wanna get shots!" Matthew, however just accepted his fate, hanging limp in Arthur's arms.

"Too bad. You're getting them whether you like it or not," Arthur said, moving his head out of the way of one of Alfred's small fists. Alfred stopped for a minute before bursting into tears.

In the end, and with much struggle, Alfred and Matthew got their shots and as a reward, Arthur took them out for ice cream.

"See, that wasn't so bad," he said later, with the two boys happily licking their treat.

"Yeah, I guess," Alfred said. "But I still don't like shots!" Arthur just smiled in response.

Not a great ending…But oh well. That's the best I could think of.

Man, it seems like I'm on a roll with these one-shots!

Once again, reviews would be fabulous!
