PROLOGUE

Long ago, on a tiny blue planet called Earth, there was a country called America. Somewhere in America, there was a top secret base called Area Fifty-One. Don't ask exactly where–I have no idea.

Now, I know that there are rumors going around that Area Fifty-One was where America held and studied aliens. But I am going to tell you what Area Fifty-One was really for.

It was home to Earth's mightiest monsters.

Also, it was where a bunch of aliens stayed when they were on Earth. But they were not prisoners, nor were they dissected or probed, or abused or studied against their will. That was against the treaty.

You see, the Earthling people who worked at Area Fifty-One always signed a treaty with the aliens that visited saying that the aliens were not to be treated in any way that they did not appreciate being treated, and the aliens would not try to invade Earth.

Now Area Fifty-One was run by many human Earthlings. But only six of them are important. Their names were Joey Wheeler, Serenity Wheeler, Tristan Taylor, Tea Gardener, Duke Devlin, and Mai Valentine. They're going to show up a lot in this story.

There were also lots of monsters at Area Fifty-One, but only five of them were important to the story. They were a giant named Ishizu; a creature who could turn into gelatinous goo, named Odion; a dragon named Shadi; a half-human half-dung beetle mad genius named Professor Solomon; and a creature that was part human, part fish, and part monkey, named Pegasus (yeah, I know, great name. His mother was very, uh, creative).

There were also a lot of aliens at Area Fifty-One. Of course, like the humans and monsters, not all of them were important to the story. One of the important ones, however, was an alien ambassador from the planet Kul Elna, five hundred light years away. His name was Zorc, and what a creep he was. He spent most of his time plotting ways to take over earth without anyone catching him.

Another important alien was a warrior called Dartz. He came from the planet Atlantis, three hundred and two light years away. He was all about fighting. Then there was Seto, a rich and intelligent prince from an asteroid called Kaiba twenty light years away. He wasn't very friendly, but he wasn't too much of a jerk, either. He let his fellow aliens borrow his pet Mokie-hound, sometimes. His Mokie-Hound was named Mokuba.

And then there were the Meians, who were from a moon called Yuumei, which circled the planet Yugioh. There were three of Meians, named Muto, Bakura, and Ishtar. However, each of them could separate into two different people. One was a kind, gentle, and peaceful creature, called a Hikari. The other was a fierce, rash, and dangerous creature called a Yami. Muto's Hikari and Yami were called Yugi and Atem. Bakura's Hikari and Yami were called Ryo and Akefia. And Ishtar's Hikari and Yami were called Malik and Melvin. So when they were merged together, there were three, but when they were split up there were six.

This story begins the day the Meians arrived at Area Fifty-One...
