Robin's POV
Human.
They don't understand the pain that weighs down that word. They never will. They've never had had that sinking feeling of helplessness dropped on their shoulders so rapidly that it threatens to overcome you.
To be a human in this game, it's plain suicide. A bullet won't bounce off you. You can't block a punch from Solomon Grundy with a shield of water. There's no telekinetic shoving, no barrage of punches at inhuman speeds. All a human has is logic. Sometimes not even that.
We who aren't fighting the good fight with super-speed or strength are always at risk. Our mortality hangs from a fraying thread, with the Fates ready to cut, ending our lives. We are fragile compared to our counter-parts, yet that is their weakness.
Do you think Superman, or Superboy for that matter, comprehends what it is like to be faced with a task where all odds are stacked against you, were the slightest errant twitch could end your life in a moments notice. No. They won't ever understand that paralyzing fear.
That fear is what makes us humans. And the ability to overcome that fear makes us, makes me, a hero. Without that trepidation, our cause would be lost, and we would just be another nut in Arkahm.
Granted, we are weaker in body, and occasionally mind, than the brightly colored superhumans that patrol our cities. But, our spirit, our resolve to win at the cost of our own morality, that makes us stronger in more ways imaginable.
So, to every soldier, hero and human, remember that we can never give up, never give in and never submit no matter the odds. For if we do that, then we lose our fighting chance in a world full of greed and chaos.
