Prayer

Beyond the distance and the times, I see you, the gentle soul, the spark of this life, broken, weakened, a mind shattered by darkness.

I run, praying, hoping, but seeing you all the same, imprisoned by the closest walls of all.

Where are you?

Tears of love, I hear them cry. Scars of promise, left behind.

Who are you?

Saints gather round, hands held across space and time, desperate pleas for a guiding light resound

Can you hear us?

I thought I knew but I could not. I thought life would go on, you with us once more soon enough, but what is this fear?

We grasp for you, each wanting what once was, what we wish could be just one more time.

Have you forgotten?

Our voices, our words penetrating very souls.

You, my teacher, my spark, my friend,

What have you become?

A prisoner to the unknowable

Locked behind the walls too close to break down

Can you break free?

Let the people gather round.

The angels, the anomalies, the wounded and the tigers, and all who call this land their home.

Let their voices cry out, let their hearts make known their plea.

Let mortal men gather their tools. Let the divine grace us with the holy wisdom and healing.

Let you hear them, touch the hands reaching out to you. Let your walls fall and freedom embrace you.

Let this darkness not be set in stone.

Let the trumpets of victory sound.

Let this nightmare end.
