"Ryuzaki…"
"Yes?"

Light's face distorted with disgust, and he shook his head.
"Just out of curiosity…" he said, prying his eyes away from the numerous plates of cake and biscuits in front of the detective, "Do you ever eat proper meals?"
"Hm?" L paused, halfway through munching a cookie, blinking at Light.
"Stop that…" Light grumbled, irritated.
L swallowed, looked at the cookie in his hand and took another bite.
"All I ever see you eating is sweets!" Light exclaimed, "Seriously… it can't be good for you."
L finished his cookie, not waiting to pluck another from the plate in his hands.
"And all that caffeine…" Light remarked, as Watari brought them both a cup and saucer with tea, "It really can't be…thank you, Watari… I mean, I guess it wouldn't be impossible for someone to survive on eating cake."
He rolled his eyes as L continued eating, clearly ignoring the point he was trying to make.
"How are you so skinny?" he finally blurted out.
"…It's because I burn calories using my brain." L said simply, proceeding to sip at his tea.
Light rebutted, quite loudly, "Like I'm supposed to believe that!"
"You should try it sometime." L mumbled; Light hated those moments, where he couldn't be sure if L was being sarcastic or not. And L's hollow, black eyes made him restless… especially when he stared like that.

"…What is it?"
L blinked again, before leaning forward. Light almost backed away, unsure of what the man was doing, but he found a plate being offered out towards him.
"If you wanted some, then you could have just asked."
"Ugh… no, I mean… I don't want any cake."
"A cookie then?"
"No!"
"Come now, you're just saying that."
"Ryuzaki, shut up!"
Light's hand moved so quickly that L didn't have time to react. His plate of cookies flew up, the contents falling scattered about the floor. Both of them stared at the broken cookies on the floor… and then looked at each other…
L frowned, his eyes darkening, "Now… that wasn't very nice."
