Tim's probably the only one not to be astonished when Tyra and Landry go public. He's known her forever, knows her by heart, so to speak, and he's always suspected she'd end up with a patented good guy who can just barely handle her. It's what she always wanted, what she deserves. When all is said and done, it just makes sense.

The first time he walks past them in the cafeteria, everybody freezes and then the frantic whispering starts. Landry's hand is wrapped around Tyra's shoulder, her hand is tucked in his back pocket and she looks so damn happy. Serene, as Julie's puts it. They nod to each other and the by-standers stare like the world has just turned upside down – the Taylor girl is holding Tim Riggins' hand, Tyra Collette's curled around Landry Clarke, and you'd think the whole school's just tuned in to the finest teen soap to ever be broadcast in Dillon, Texas.

But what's so weird about it, anyway? So what if Tyra's found someone who treats her like the princess she always secretly believed she was. And who cares if he's fallen for a girl who knows too many big words for her own good despite looking the way she does. Let them watch.

If the crowd expects a brawl, they're about to be sorely disappointed. The girls beams to each other, Tim and Laundry exchange a nod and a manly grin, and they all resume the course of their lives. Landry keeps looking like he's just won the freaking lottery. Tyra goes on proving the world she's not the worthless white trash hottie they all think she is. Julie keeps correcting his vocabulary and nagging him about his homework and looking at him like he's the best thing since sliced bread. And him, well, he just clings on that weird feeling of contentment he'd never suspected even existed until now.

It's that simple.
