Nightmare: One of our characters will have a nightmare. (I'm assuming this involves comforting; this could be adorable with Lion at any age.)

Pan: my character plays a song for yours

A shriek and the crashing of glass had her moving from where she sat, ignoring the looks from other maids and the clatter of her chair tipping over. It was obvious to her that to them it was a normal occurance that they've come to ignore. But to her, that scream made her blood run cold. Sure, she was new. Sure, she'd get used of it. Sure, it'd all be old news. Least, that's what they told her. But that was her charge. And even with it being her first day, she'd be damned if she'd let him suffer alone.

"Emilio-sama...?" she questioned softly, pushing open his bedroom door.

"Don't call me that!" came the return, and she flinched, biting back a yelp as something shattered against the door to her left. Peering through the dark, she saw him, sitting up in his bed, panting in the pale light cast by the hall behind her. She swallowed, but took a deep breath, pushing forward into the room.

"Emilio. Please, calm down and tell me what happened." She was proud that she managed to keep her voice from shaking. She was speaking out of turn to her master. Kneeling beside his bed, she caught sight of a vase laying in pieces on the floor. So that's where the sound of breaking glass came from. He seemed to shrink into his blankets a bit more at her voice, cautiously peering out.

"Mama... No... Marian..." His voice was low, almost soundless. Between that, and his shaking, she could barely hear him. Pushing her luck, she rose and sat beside him on the bed.

"Could you tell me, please?" Placing a gentle hand upon his shoulder, she was a little surpised when he was suddenly there, clinging to her as though his life depended on it.

"There was so much water... I couldn't breath... It was so dark..." His voice came between sobs as he held fast, quivering with the force of his tears. Hesitantly, she raised her hand, setting it across his beautiful raven locks and stroking his head. The poor child. Such a dream at such an age. She didn't even know what prompted it, but she took the 9 year old boy into her lap and held him close, rocking back and forth. She was singing before she realized it, mouth forming the familiar song her own mother used to sing to her.

"Come stop your crying, it will be alright. Just take my hand, hold it tight. I will protect you from all around you. I will be here, don't you cry. For one so small, you seem so strong. My arms will hold you, keep you safe and warm. This bond between us can't be broken. I will be here, don't you cry. Cause you'll be in my heart. Yes, you'll be in my heart. From this day on, now and forever more. You'll be in my heart, no matter what they say. You'll be in my heart always."

Through her song, she noticed that the shaking form in her arms steadily slowed until her shook no more. Quiet breathing came from the youth in her arms. Much to her amazement, he had fallen back to sleep. However, the steel grip he had on her made it to where she couldn't return him to the bed. Instead, she shifted herself to where she leaned against the headboard. Making herself comfy, she prepared to stay there the rest of the night, lightly humming the song she had sang before.

This moment was precious to her, and made her really glad she took the job earlier this morning. She looked forward to spending more time with Emilio-sama and getting to know the youth.

A.N- I do not own the song or the characters used.
