AN: A fic written by cupckeshrk8D that's not a parody! GASP! So the other day I was wondering who exactly buys Near's food for him? Given his complete lack of life skills, there is no way Near actually goes grocery shopping. So I decided to write a short one shot in which Rester goes to the grocery store. Mainly because I wanted to practice writing slightly more serious stuff. I refer to Rester by his alias and not his real name in the narration to avoid confusion.

"The current L is a fake. The real L is dead." The news was mildly shocking at first. The world's greatest detective dead. L was rather mysterious, to the point where no one was really sure he was even real until he declared war on Kira. Many people, Rester included thought he was probably a team of people. The amount of cases L had supposedly solved, it would be impossible for one person to do. But L was real. And now he was dead. But though Rester was shocked at the news, he was more concerned with who would stop Kira now and not L's death. His question was answered rather quickly, as the person who had told him this was apparently L's true successor. This child … no, he was apparently 17 was now the leader of the newly formed Special Provision for Kira. Going by the name of Near, he claimed to be L's successor. Some days, (such as today) it was especially hard to believe that Near was in fact, almost 18. It had been a couple days since the SPK was formed. Near was sitting in a room surrounded by monitors. Every screen displaying was something important to the case. Rester had no idea how he kept track of all of them. "Commander Rester, I need you to acquire some items I need for this investigation." said Near, handing Rester a slip of paper. Upon glancing at the paper, Rester immediately had questions. "Near this is the receipt for your chair." "The list is written on the other side. This was the paper I had on hand." replied Near "You know there's paper in the supply closet, right?" asked Rester. "This was the paper I had on hand." Rester quickly decided this was not a conversation worth having, and flipped the paper over. "Near is this a grocery list?" "Yes." Rester realized arguing about it would go nowhere and headed to the grocery store. After a quick stroll through the store he found the items on Near's list, paid for them, and left. When he returned to SPK headquarters, he handed Near the bag of groceries and Near handed him another slip of paper. "What do you need 50 boxes of matches for?"
