The dim light from the old building swept over her, highlighting the streaks of red and black in her hair, caressing her pale face as she smiled at him. Standing on her toes so she could reach his face, she pressed their foreheads together with her hands gently stroking his cold cheeks and whispered comforting words to him. He had never been so scared in his life. He felt his heart rate slow and his breathing becoming regular, and wrapped his arms around the one solid thing he felt he had in this cold and transparent world. He felt better instantly and melted into her touch. While holding her close to his chest, he looked over to his trusty steed, "You misbehaved. You almost through me off the bridge and killed me!" He quietly yelled. The eyes of the steed just shone in the dim light, with a steel gaze that sent shivers down his spine. The control he once had was gone and he could still feel himself shake with fear. I trusted you! He thought stupidly. His shame broke through the barrier he had up and made itself known to her through the downward slant of his eyes. She didn't know how to help. She wanted to make him forget it ever happened and that the beast never entered their lives. She had never felt so powerless before. The only one in her life that she would do anything for, and she could not help him. How could she claim that she loved him if she could not help him when he needed her most? They had been falling apart the last few weeks. They both were exhausted and had the weight of the world on their shoulders. Stress, chaos, fatigue, pressure and hatred were only a few of the problems plaguing them during their last year. She would turn to him and he would turn to the emotionless pages. They knew they loved each other but at the present time, it did not seem to be enough. However, looking at him now, she wondered how she could ever doubt what they had. He gazed at her in wonder and wished he could take back all the pain, all the hurt. The incident, the beast and the bridge, had woken him up to the wrongs in their partnership. He couldn't believe the doubt he planted in to the mind of the only one that mattered to him. He hugged her even tighter to him and muttered over and over again that he was sorry. Ever so slowly, the painful tears made their way down his cheeks. She was so shocked that all she could do was hold him and stroke his hair. He had never let his pain show in front of her. He let his emotions show and lead the way. Planning his actions based on what he could feel. She had opened his eyes to the new world that he had been living in. The people, the emotions, the pain, the joy, the light and the dark, she showed him it all. Their relationship was one that did not always go right, but when it did, it bloomed. They fought back, they never let go, and they would not give up because of petty little factors. Their relationship was one of pain, but that made the joy so much sweeter to taste. They both opened up to the world and let each other in, with fear of the other breaking them into pieces, the let go of barriers and exclaimed the only emotion they felt at that point. I love you.

The beast no longer appeared proud. The shine had gone from the eyes and it had gone cold. It had no power and no control. It was as dead as the icy night. The wind blew through their hair and they both shuddered. They huddled together and closed their eyes. The wind, that moaned and growled, became an incredible force knocking the steed off its stand. They looked up at the sky and watched the night become a whirl of colours. The blue, the purple, the red and the white. The couple stood there watching the world slowly fade beyond reasoning. I love you.
