His breathtaking face is just inches from mine, so close that I can count each glimmer of sparkling sunlight radiating from his porcelain skin. His eyes are the warm golden brown of butterscotch; they pierce me now with that unfaltering gaze, filled with such a complicated web of emotions, I have to blink and turn away, blinded by his beauty.

I feel the ice cold of his fingers as he gently lifts my chin back towards him. We're so close now, I can feel his breath tickle my face, perfuming the air with his sweet fragrance, making my head spin, blocking all thoughts.

Before I have a chance to recover, his soft stone lips are upon mine, rendering me unable to breathe, such is the power of his kiss. I remember just in time to inhale deeply, and kiss him back, incapable of thought. My heart is thudding with such force, I'm amazed it doesn't burst straight through my chest. I reach for his face, wanting to hold him in this embrace forever.

My hands clutch at nothing and I feel warmth rush back to me as he releases me from his icy grip.

I open my eyes.

Edward is gone.
