Chapter 1:
Mion Sonozaki was sitting in her bedroom, phoning with her twin sister Shion. They were talking with each other every day despite the fact that they lived in two different cities.
Now they were talking about the last day.
"How was school today, Shion?" Mion asked.
"Aah, don't ask me this stupid question every day again. You know how it was!" Shion answered in an offended way.
"Like always: boring and nothing new happened," the twins said at the same time.
"But in Hinamizawa happened something, right, o-nee?" Shion asked kinda worried.
"Er... y-yeah... we got a new student. He transferred from Tokyo, I think, and er..."
"Come on! What's his name? How old is he? How is he looking? Tell me everything about him!" Shion said eagerly.
"Ah, his name is Maebara Keiichi and he is er... I think fifteen years old, but I'm not sure. I mean, we haven't talked that much yet."
"Mion? What's wrong with you? You're talking a bit strange. Did something happen?" Shion asked, wondering about the unusual behavior of her sister.
Mion looked through her bedroom searching for a point she could stare at, but she didn't find one and started to chew on her fingernails. On one hand she doesn't want to tell her sister about her feelings, on the other hand she needed to talk to someone, but she was to scared.
"Mion? O-nee?" Shion asked on the other side of the phone and Mion decided to not tell her. Not today. Maybe one day, but not today.
"Ah, sorry, Shion. Nothing happened. I'm just a bit tired. Can we finish the call for now?" Shion grumbled at first, but then the twins bid each other good-bye.
After the call, Mion couldn't sleep well. Her thoughts about Keiichi followed her through her deepest dreams, which changed into nightmares, in which she became a demon and she killed Keiichi...
