The Thought of Youthfulness
On a regular evening, Lee's team had finished their mission for the day and was heading back to the village. On the way back, they spotted a female cat, giving birth to little kittens right in the middle of the track.
Here they go again. Neji and Tenten thought at the same time.
"Lee, look at this cat! It's spreading the seeds of youthfulness!" their teacher exclaimed, pointing at the cat.
"Yes Gai-sensei! I can feel it!" Lee said back energetically.
"Oh my dear student!"
"Oh my dear sensei!"
"Lee!"
"Gai-sensei!"
"Lee!"
"Gai-sensei!"
"Lee!"
"When are you two going to stop this non sense?" Tenten yelled at both of them while Lee and Gai-sensei hugged each other tightly with tears rolling down their cheeks.
"The sun is setting! If you two don't stop this now, we will not make it back to the village before dark!"
Neji stayed quiet as the teacher and student continued their embrace. He let Tenten to do all the talking because he know his words would not affect anything. Even if he wanted to say something at that moment, he was too busy being occupied in his thoughts.
In Neji's mind...
Tens years later on this day...
"Lee, do you remember we saw this cat laboring when we were on our way back to the village after a mission?"
"Of course Gai-sensei! How can I ever forget something so wonderful?"
"Lee!"
"Gai-sensei!"
"Lee!"
"Gai-sensei!"
"Lee!"
The student and teacher embraced each other as tight as they could.
Twenty years later on this day...
"Lee, do you remember on this day, we saw a cat spreading its seeds of youthfulness on our way back to the village after a mission?"
"Of course Gai-sensei. I wouldn't dare to let such an important memory to fade away!"
"Oh Lee!"
"Gai-sensei!"
"Lee!"
"Gai-sensei!"
"Lee!"
The two men hugged each other as the sun was trying to hide himself behind the mountains...
Thirty years later on that same day...
"Lee, do you recall witnessing a cat giving birth to young kittens here thirty years ago after we finished a mission?"
"Of course Gai-sensei. It was the first time I witness laboring in my life."
"Lee!"
"Gai-sensei!"
"Lee!"
"Gai-sensei!"
"Lee!"
Lee stepped forward and gave his beloved teacher a bear hug, squeezing the daylight out of him.
Fifty years later...
"L...Lee...do...you...remember... w..watching a cat...granting new...l...lives to this...w...world?"
"Of course Gai-sensei. I will never forget such a heart-touching scene."
"L..Lee!"
"Gai-sensei!"
"L..Lee!"
"Gai-sensei!"
"L..Lee!"
The teacher and student hugged.
CRACK
"Ouch!"
"Gai-sensei! Are you okay?" Lee asked worriedly.
"Ow...my back..."
Sixty years later on that same day...
"Gai-sensei, do you remember you always reminded of that 'cat incident'?"
"..."
"I can still recall that cat giving birth to those kittens..."
"..."
"Oh Gai-sensei!"
"..."
"Gai-sensei!"
"..."
Lee embraced a gravestone. On the stone carved: Maito Gai, beloved sensei and shinobi, 1405-1498.
"Come on Neji! Stop standing there like an idiot and let's go!" Tenten's voice made him snapped back to the present.
"Oh Gai-sensei! Neji was drowned in the thoughts of youthfulness!"
"He will become a good example for everyone!"
"Gai-sensei!"
"Lee!"
"Gai-sensei!"
"Lee!"
By this time, the team had reached the Konoha front gate and everywhere around them was...pitch dark.
