Heyy! Here is my Kevin and Sadie fic, as promised :) I hope you enjoy it! Its definitely a series I will recommend!
Sadie McCoy sat on a grassy hillside, holding her baby. She watched Kevin working on the roof of their house. Her blonde hair blew into her face, riding the summer breeze. They had made it. Kevin and Sadie had finally made. Out of Ireland. Out of the violence. Out of their van. She sat and thought of her childhood home, of the Orangemen, of the war and the religious divide. Belfast was no place to raise their child, it was better here in Wales. Brendan could grow up without the troubles Kevin and Sadie had been through.
Nobody cared what religion you were in Wales, people didn't treat you differently because of your beliefs. Sadie was a Protestant, Kevin was a Catholic. Nobody gave them any trouble because of it. Occasionally Sadie still got wary of the Catholics, it still sometimes caused arguments between her and Kevin. These arguments wouldn't last though, religion had caused a rift which cost them a child. Now they were more respectful of each other, Kevin attended mass, Sadie didn't. Neither argued about it.

"I can't wait till you're all grown up!" Kevin came over tickled Brendan under the chin. "I'll be putting you to work on that house right away!" Brendan replied with a gurgle.
"Sure you'll be finished it by then?" Sadie asked, looking up.
"Aye, it wont be long now," Kevin replied, "I'll have us in before the winter, and then we'll decorate it in all the brightest colours possible."
"Good!" Sadie beamed, "I can't stand rooms being so dull!" Kevin knelt down and kissed her forehead. He couldn't wait to see the house finished, he had worked on it for months and months. Mostly, he wanted to see Sadie's face when she stepped inside. Losing the baby had affected her more than she was letting on. She put on a brave face, mostly for Brendan. But Kevin had often seen her gazing out into space with tears in her eyes, and it wasn't the first time he had heard her sobbing at night.
What Sadie needed was a good reason to smile. If Kevin did a good job building their house, he reckoned he would see Sadie smile again. He loved seeing Sadie smile, it made her appear more beautiful than she already was. He didn't see that smile often now, most of the time he could see only sadness in her eyes.

Kevin snuck out of bed. He'd been doing this most nights now. Sadie didn't know. When Kevin was sure she was asleep, he would slip out and continue working on the house. At this rate he would have them in by the end of the summer. He stood inside the main room, surveying his work. The flooring was in, all of the windows were in place, there were no leaks anywhere. Kevin had built them a solid house. The only part he was having trouble with was the roof, sure it was watertight, but he couldn't get the flagstones to sit correctly. Once they were in place properly they could move in.
Kevin started working on the fireplace. This was his crowning achievement, or it would be when he finished it. All he needed was to fit the mantlepiece. He was incredibly proud of it, this large fireplace would be the centrepiece of the room. It was only a small hole in the wall when he started, but soon he widened it, and built a new chimney on the outside. He slotted the ornate mantle into place and marvelled at it. There was a large shelf where they could display photos and ornaments, this was supported by two pillars either side. The pillars were decorated with ornate carvings of birds and trees. Sadie would love it.
