Who Wants to Live Forever?
He put his consciousness into the earth
and that's how he got his
way.
There are two roads to immortality
he thought—
Either,
pour himself into history
the cracks of the
Textbook;
Or,
seize time
and name reality.
Spin the molecules, taste the chemicals, grow in centuries, and
trees and seas and breezes.
So this is how he became
One!
with nature.
Now he lives with eternity
in his belly,
and he is almost content because
That's all he wanted in the end, just
a place
to belong.
And now he has one,
in the lava,
the mud.
Oh heavens.
