CHANGE

Disclaimer: I do not own Card Captor Sakura

People always told me I was a lot like him, that they could always see him in me. I was proud to hear that, because I always wanted to be like him. He was my hero.

Then he changed.

It started with him coming home late without a reason, without a care, ignoring phone calls not bothering to call back…

He was ALWAYS punctual, and if he really couldn't arrive on time he ALWAYS called to say he is on his way, he didn't like to worry anyone.

Then he became secretive, he would shut his computer the moment I came in, he took his phone calls outside, he never said where he was or where he would be going….

One thing he taught me, or more like drilled into me, was to never lie, to not keep secrets from them.

Next his temper, the shouting, the fighting…

The one thing that I admired about him the most, was his cool and calm approach to everything, he never shouted, he hardly ever raised his voice (except for rugby matches) and he NEVER fought.

Even his spending habits changed, he became loose with money, spending it on useless junk, spending it on her.

He was never loose with money, he made investments, he saved, he taught me how to work with money and how to make it work for you.

Then he left…

He once said he will die before leaving his family… He may not be dead but he still left…

After that, the changes became more subtle, but still noticeable, his style of clothing, his taste in furniture, his manner.

He started blocking us from his life even though he insists that we become a part of his new life.

He said he would be more open… he still lies, still hides…

He once said he will only ever love one woman… now he is engaged to another, half his age.

He said family always come first, his children always come first but they don't anymore.

People always told me I was a lot like him, that they could always see him in me. I am not so proud anymore. I always wanted to be like him… now I fear it. He was my hero, now he is just a stranger. A stranger I was once proud to call dad.

They say I have to forgive him. But how can you forgive someone you don't know anymore?

A/N: This one shot I wrote is based on what happened to me. It hurts like to write it, but I know that I am not the only one who went through something like this. So this is a dedication to all those who had to deal with loved ones changing into someone else and hurting those around them while doing so.

I also kind of based this on Tomoyo's situation in the story Honestly Okay by Tella, and yes I do have her permission for it… so you can read it from her point of view if you like. I just needed to get this off my chest.

Thank you
