James lifted up his son and spun around as fast as he could. Smile widening as he did so, James laughed as Harry grinned and wailed his arms about him. His was only small. Sirius Black entered the room munching on more of his favourite chocolate biscuits, and raced over to snatch Harry from his fathers arms.

'Hey!' James shouted as he faced his mate, who was now digging about in his rucksack, as if looking for something. He pulled out a long rectangular package.

'Hey Harry!' The baby looked up as he heard his name from Uncle Sirius, ' I have a present for you! If your gonna be the best Quiditch player, you need to start flying as soon as you can walk.' James burrowed his brow in amusement. 'So, here it is!' Sirius pulled out a box that contained a miniature broomstick, identical to James' Nimbus 1000.

'Sirius..' James started but was cut off as Harry squealed with excitement.

'Here y'a go mate.' Sirius helped Harry into the broomstick and both men watched as he whizzed around the room, finally bashing into the sofa arm and falling off, giggling. Sirius rushed over and examined the accident.

'I think we have one broken sofa, a damaged broomstick and one hysterically scarred child,' Sirius exclaimed and started chasing the still whizzing broomstick around the room, much to James amusement.

Both men ran around as the micro broomstick collided with anything that got in its way. Vases, candles, wands and toys fell to the floor and cluttered the nursery.

The scene poor Lily came home too from work was one of complete chaos. It hadn't been an easy day at work, and she had hoped for a quiet evening in with James and Harry. But when she walked through the front door, she had already decided that there was no point hoping for so much.

Dumping her bag and keys, she made her way to the nursery, praying for Harry to be alright.

'James? Sirius!' Sirius turned as he heard Lily's voice and immediately got up and hugged her.

'Sorry Sirius, but where is James? Where is Harry?' Lily pushed past and finally noticed the state of the room.

'Woah!' Her mouth fell open as she took in her normally neat and tidy nursery, with its now broken glass and her husband running around the room, trying to catch some flying object. Finally, James caught the broom (probably because of all his Quiditch training) and slumped back into the armchair where Harry had fallen asleep. He hadn't noticed Lily until she spoke again,

' James! What..' James jumped and got up as he realised Lily was there. Oh no. Sirius laughed as he walked over and gazed around the room.

'Lils! Your home! Sorry about the mess... Had a bit of an accident with the flying broomstick Sirius brought as a present for Harry...' He trailed off as Lily shook her head in disbelief and brought out her wand from her pocket. 'Raparo. Tergeo.' She turned to her husband and sighed.

'How... the ...hell ...did you ...manage ...such a ...such...a...MESS!' She cracked up finally and struggled to stand as she burst out laughing. James, worriedly held his wife and started laughing too, along with Sirius who already had tears down his face.

James didn't even know what was SO funny. But the fact that they could all laugh at such stupidness at this point in history of the Wizarding world was truly amazing. It gave James hope. Hope that maybe he and Sirius were gonna be okay. Hope that maybe Lily would be okay, and hope that maybe even little Harry would be okay.

The adults laughed and laughed until finally Lily decided to make some tea and they all sat down to talk about anything but the war that carried on around them.

Authors note- I LOVE writing about lily and James so much... They are some of my favourite characters and seeming as I can't finish my other story (next generation)

i decided I would write a couple mini story's about these two and a bit of Sirius as well.

Hope you enjoy the change, review and rate,
