Here it's safe, here it's warm

I can hear her singing. The tears streaming down her face. Her braid is coming undone and she looks tired, worn, unhealthy. The games broke this girl. I might be 12 but I can tell. She singing about a place that's safe. I only feel that when I'm with the ones I love, when I'm with her. It's a little warmer today. If I were at home it would mean more working hours. But not here, just more time to die.
Here the daisies guard you from every harm

I can feel the soft feel of flowers around me. This is a perfect setting where all your dreams come true as you run through the meadow. They ruined that dream though. Why is it always them?
Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true

My dreams will never be more than what they are. As I lay here listening I finally except it. At least Katniss is helping. Her voice, all the birds stop to listen. To weep, along with her, along with me, I don't know. Thanks Capitol, you have outdone yourself.
Here is the place where I love you.

I've only started listening to these last few lines. They mean something as Katniss proclaims her sisterly love for me. I wish I could tell her to run, to just go, but I'm a selfish 12 year old so I'll let her cry. Maybe it makes it just a little easier. They have killed me, an innocent girl. They will kill the girl on fire. I think she really does have feelings for Lover Boy. He seems safe and I wish, that if fairy tales came true, and this wasn't the Hunger Games she could be with him. She looks down at me. I can't breath. Help. Help. I thank you Katniss. Because here is the place where I love you.

Rue's Lullaby

Oh Rue. Here is the place where I love you. To all the people who have died of unjust reasons. To everyone who has lost someone dear to their hearts.
