Disclaimer: Do I look like Natsuki Takaya? Do I act like Natsuki Takaya? Do any of you really think I am Natsuki Takaya? If you do then your brain is obviously no bigger than that of an extra-stupid house fly. Just to make it extra-clear: I DO NOT OWN FRUITS BASKET, NOR AM I NATSUKI TAKAYA. Happy now?
The Most Dangerous Game
Yuki is perfect.
As much as it pains me to admit it, I know it's true. He's perfect—the perfect student, the perfect son, the perfect...boyfriend. For Tohru, I mean. Or for any girl.
Yuki always knows the perfect thing to say, when to say it; the perfect gift to give, when to give it...he's perfect.
His life is perfect. Look at him—he's got perfect looks, perfect grades, perfect popularity. He's perfect at everything he does! Without even trying, he's perfect.
Yuki's perfect. And you can always count on him to be perfect. It's like that's all he is—perfect. He never does anything wrong. Everyone likes him. They trust him. They trust him to be perfect. Always.
But if you ask me, perfect is overrated. It's so...predictable. I mean, if you think about it, being perfect means your every action is dictated by it. You live by perfection. The way you tie your shoes—perfect. The way you brush your teeth—perfect. The way you live your freaking life—perfect! The same perfect thing...the same perfect way every time. There's never any variety. It's just always 'the perfect way'. You could never do anything, because you're too busy being perfect. Yuki's like that.
You can always count on perfect Yuki to do everything perfectly. So you don't have to worry. People automatically think "He's Yuki—he's perfect—he can handle it. Hey, you want to go play soccer?" See? People forget him because he's so perfect.
People like that are creepy. Like robots—every action, every word, every thought is preprogrammed. It's like he runs on autopilot—giving the same, predictable, right, perfect answers every time. Doing the same, predictable, right, perfect thing every time.
Yuki's perfect.
And nothing is more boring than perfection.
Fin
Hmmm...I don't know how much sense this makes. I got it from that scene in book nine—the one where Kyo gets knocked off the porch after he called Yuki a 'regular, boring guy'. You know?
That and there is a story by Richard Connell called 'The Most Dangerous Game' which is where the title comes from. And the line "Nothing is more boring than perfection". That came from the story. So it's not mine! And the title doesn't exactly fit, but...I felt it would be a little too cliché to call the story just 'Perfection'. I like 'The Most Dangerous Game' better, even if it doesn't quite work. So deal!
I think this is drabble-ish. What is a drabble exactly? Is it a 100-word story? Or just a really short story? Would someone care to tell me?
Read? Review! Tell me if you like it! And if it makes sense. I have put quite a bit of thought into it. So look through your Fruits Basket manga collection and let me know. OH, and if anyone saw any grammar/spelling/punctuation errors, please tell me, that I may correct it ASAP. Thanks!
Audley Dangerous!
