Only the Wicked
Glinda sat in her seat overlooking Oz. She sighed. It was all hers to protect, her to save. Since her rule Animals were no longer seen as the enemies, everything in Oz was peaceful and all were happy…well almost. Glinda was crushed. She'd lost all she'd had. A lover…a friend. She had many friends, of course, she was Glinda. However how could anyone truly be happy when they lost those that they loved? It was the saddest thing in the world when she heard of Nessa's death. She'd gone to see her, the indignity of being crushed, with a house no less.
Elphaba. That word gave her an ill taste and a sick stomach. It was her fault that her friend was gone. None but her own. What did you do with something like that? She wasn't sure. So she made sure that she fulfilled her last promise and make Elphie proud. Her Elphie. She missed Fiyero just as much. He had been a close friend and lover…but he didn't share her feelings and she only ever got hurt. She forgave him. But could only wish for love. She lost those who she loved and she felt lonely.
What did one do when they were lonely?
She left her room in the green palace of the Emerald City and went down to the streets of Oz wearing a discreet dark green dress, having her hair held back. She made her way to a local bar on the edge of town. When she got there it was dark.
She went to sit at the counter and order a drink. She felt a tap on her shoulder and turned to see a handsome young man who couldn't have been older than her, only twenty-three.
He whispered softly. "I don't mean to be a bother but my friend doesn't think I could get a girl like you to dance with me. Would you?"
She whispered, "Okay."
She went to stand but being drunk as she was…she almost fell. He quickly grabbed hold of Glinda.
He frowned. "You're in no state to dance. You should go home. Where do you live? I'll take you home."
Glinda started to cry. "Please don't. I can't go there. Not now, not like this. There's no one there for me."
He stopped and whispered. "It'll be okay. Hey don't cry. You don't have to go there. Would you like to stay at my place? Its cosy but you can stay there. I'm sorry."
She just nodded. "Please, I don't care just don't take me home."
He moved to hold her, "Hey it'll be fine. I won't make you go home. I'll take you to my pace. Come on, its close by. Can you walk?"
Glinda shook her head so he moved down and brought her to his back and took her to his place. By the time he did she was sleeping so he placed her on the bed and went to sleep on the floor.
