Zen
He is so engrossed in the new script that he almost misses the flash of light from the window. But his head jerks up as thunder breaks through the silence of the apartment and then he could hear the rain pounding against the windows.
Zen breathes a sigh of relief. "I thought it was the paparazzi."
And then he notices that MC isn't in the room.
"Babe?" he calls out, putting down his script and getting off the couch. He glances at the clock on the wall.
"11:30 already? Where did the time go?" he says to himself, surprised. He makes his way to the bedroom and slowly opens the door, in case MC is already asleep. Zen enters the room and sees a lump under the sheets in the middle of the bed.
"MC, what are you doing?" he asks, a smile spreading across his face. The lump moves a little and Zen resists the urge to take off the covers and pinch MC's cheeks. This is too adorable.
"Zenny?" MC's voice is soft and muffled by the blanket.
"Yeah, I'm here." Zen replies, sitting on the bed beside the lump. "Sorry, I didn't notice the time. My new role is really cool and the story is amazing. You want to hear about it or are you sleepy?"
The lump is quiet for a while. Zen tilts his head to the side. Is MC trying to play a game with him?
Lightning flashes in the window again, followed by a loud crack of thunder. The lump lets out a soft high-pitched cry and realization finally dawns on Zen.
"MC…are you afraid of thunder?"
Zen lifts the edge of the blanket and crawls underneath it, spotting MC's shaking form in the middle.
His heart constricts and he reaches out and pulls her against his chest, stroking her hair.
"It's okay, you're fine. I'm here for you, babe." Zen mutters. MC looks up at him, her eyes teary and her lips slightly quivering.
Zen nearly combusted on the spot.
He clears his throat and wipes the edges of her eyes, giving her a reassuring smile. "It'll be over soon, MC. Until then, just stay here in my arms. I'll protect you."
MC smiles. "Thanks, Zen."
They stay like that until the rain finally stops.
