Author's note: For the purposes of this story the whole "Glory tries to end the world by tying Dawn to a tower and cutting her" thing takes place when Dawn is 17. Everything else happens exactly the same, Dawn was just older when the monks popped her in. Oh and I haven't seen the episode where this chapter takes place in a really long time so I don't remember exactly how it all goes down, and frankly I don't care. It's not all that relevant to the rest of the story anyway.

The battle raged on beneath her. She had no power to stop it. Not chained to this tower built by Glory and her band of merry mental patients. Dawn yanked her arms, trying desperately to break her chains. The fear radiating off her was almost tangible. She watched helplessly as Doc came towards her with a knife. "Shallow cuts," he was muttering. Dawn screamed in agony as the first cut sliced her abdomen. He cut and cut, ribbons of crimson marring her perfect flesh.
Buffy had broken away from the fight. She raced up the rickety tower, praying to every god she could think of to please let Dawn be all right. After what seemed to her an eternity, she reached the platform. Her baby sister, her little Dawnie, was standing at the end, but just barely able to keep herself up. Her already-pale skin was chalk white. "No!" Buffy yelled when she saw the blood. So much blood. She wondered how it all could fit in Dawn's tiny body. Doc spun around, his crocodilian tale whipping Dawn's bare feet. He lunged at the slayer. Dawn watched as the last remaining member of her family fought the demon. Doc had Buffy by the throat. He pushed her to the ground, choking her. With a final desperate kick, Buffy pushed him off of her. He staggered trying to regain his balance. A viscious punch sent him careening over the edge.
"Buffy help me!" Dawn yelled, a frantic note in her voice. Buffy rushed over and snapped the bindings. They began to make their way down the collapsing tower, but Buffy hadn't been fast enough. A single drop of Dawn's blood fell through the platform's grate. They watched as a blindingly white glow appeared. It grew, pulsating with power.
Dawn looked at Buffy. She knew what she had to do. "Dawnie, no." Buffy breathed, tears glistening in her eyes. "Buffy, I have to." "You can't! I need you!" Buffy begged Dawn hugged her sister. "I have to do this. There is no other way. I understand that. I love you. You have to live. They need you. Live for me." Dawn looked toward the still growing portal, her face one of grim resignation. She ran and jumped in a graceful swan-dive. Her long silky hair flowed around her as she was caught in the luminescent mass. The light imploded. It sucked into itself, disappearing with a clap like thunder. And it took Dawn with it. Buffy collapsed sobbing. "Dawnie!"
The battle was over. Glory was dead. But they hadn't won.
Ok, so, whatya think? Any good? Should I continue. I know, not a lot os DL in this chap. Actually, none, but I promise bunches in the future!
