Takashi Mitsuhashi hummed a tune to himself as he strolled down the street with a spring in his step. He was in a very good mood, having just returned from a trip with his father and was now on his way to visit Shinji Ito.

Ah Ito, he thought to himself with a devilish grin. You thought you'd be rid of me for a whole weekend didn't you? You didn't expect me to come back early. Oh I can't wait to see the look on your face.

He soon arrived at Ito's house and knocked on the door. It was opened by Ito's mother.

"Good afternoon Mitsuhashi-san" she said with a polite smile.

"Good afternoon kaa-san" he replied, smoothly turning on the charm. "Is Ito home?"

"Yes he's in his room. I'll just go and call him…"

"That's okay kaa-san. I'll just go right up. He'll be glad to see me" said Mitsuhashi. He couldn't keep a grin off his face as he spoke.

"Of course he will. Please come in."

"Thanks."

He bounded up the steps until he came to Ito's room to find that the door was closed.

Enjoying some peace and quiet eh Ito? Well let's see about that he thought, his grin broadening. He was just about to push the door open when he heard a familiar voice cry out, "I can't Ito-san! I can't do it!"

Mitsuhashi's grin instantly disappeared, replaced by a look of surprised disbelief. That's Kyoko-chan's voice! Wait, why does she sound so distressed? Surely Ito wouldn't do anything bad, would he? He pressed his ear to the door and listened intently.

"You can Kyo-chan" Ito replied. His tone was encouraging but there was also just a hint of insistence there as well. "Just keep trying."

"I can't Ito-san! It's too big" she cried.

Mitsuhashi's eyes almost bulged out of their sockets. What? But… That's not… They wouldn't…

"It's okay. We just need to try it from another angle" Ito said.

Mitsuhashi clenched his teeth in rage. Hold on Kyoko-chan! I'll save you!

He shoved the door open with such force it rebounded off the wall and burst in yelling, "Get away from her you filthy per…"

His words trailed off as he took in the sight before him. Ito and Kyoko were sitting in front of a television on which two samurai were battling a giant demon. The screen froze as the game was paused and they both turned to look at him.

Kyoko's startled expression immediately became a warm smile. "Hello Mitsuhashi-san" she said brightly.

"Uh, hello" he replied bemusedly.

"Hello Mitsuhashi" said Ito, his annoyance at the interruption clear. Mitsuhashi was far too embarrassed to notice.

Kyoko pointed at the screen. "Ito-san and I are playing this new game. It's so much fun! I was just saying how I can't beat this monster because it's too big and he said that we need to attack it from another angle to win" she explained.

He laughed awkwardly, feeling like a complete fool. "Ah yes of course. A video game monster. That's exactly what I thought" he said, scratching his head uncomfortably.

Her smile faded. "Are you okay Mitsuhashi-san?"

"Oh me? I'm fine, absolutely fine" he replied with another awkward laugh. "Anyway, enjoy your game. I'll see you later Ito. Bye."

With that he promptly closed the door and left. They looked at each other in puzzlement.

"What's up with him?" Ito wondered. "And why did he burst in like that?"

"I don't know. He seemed anxious about something" she replied. "Maybe we should go and talk to him."

"Don't worry Kyo-chan, he'll be fine" said Ito. "I'll go and talk to him once he's had time to calm down."

"Okay."

"In the meantime shall we keep playing?"

She smiled again. "Sure."
