Merry Christmas, Ashton! I couldn't resist writing you something, and I'd been unsure of what to write for such an awesome person and finally I wrote this. Once I heard that you liked Blue Exorcist as well, I finished watching the last seven episodes. (I'd already finished the currently released manga by that point.) I heard that Rin was one of your favorite characters as well, so I wrote this which is somewhere between a character analysis of him, and a description of his world. I hope you enjoy this small fanfic which is my first ever fanfiction to Blue Exorcist, but I figured that you deserved my first ever fanfiction to an awesome, mutual fandom, so I hope that you enjoy this, and it becomes an amazing Christmas gift from me to you.
It was not necessarily easy to be the son of Satan, but Rin managed day after day, time after time.
How he managed seemed so bizarre, but he always seemed to live with more spirit in his body than was imaginable.
He was not immortal nor was he the smartest academically yet somehow his compassion and love of life lit brighter than Satan's flame in him.
His infectious smile beat that flame of evil in its joy.
His love of life insured safety and protection amid flames.
His heart was full in a strangely bizarre love that seemed wrong for the son of a demon.
Rin lived to preserve and protect the future and the present for all that it was in his past for him.
It was more than a world lacking the mutual aid and support of demons amongst humans, and more than the world that had taken his mother away.
It was the world that had bred and raised him.
It had given him Father Fujimoto who was won over by a smile.
It was years of bravery and safety.
It gave a love in Shiemi and a brother in Yukio as well as a father in Father Fujimoto.
This world was full of love among its flaws, so Rin would continue to fight for the peace of love even if his fighting involved the Koma Sword and blue flame.
