A/N: I love Fire Emblem Fates. I love the story, and I love the characters. One of my favorites will always be Takumi, partially because I see a little bit of myself in him. I don't really understand why people dislike him. I mean, sure he can be a bit of a jerk in the game and he's super suspicious of anyone that has a connection to Nohr, but I honestly care for him. That's why I wrote this. I'll try my best to put into words my feelings towards Takumi's character through female Kamui's POV (since I myself am an older sister) though I probably won't do very well. Sorry about that.

I'll be using the Japanese version of the characters' names. Also, the path that's chosen won't be mentioned since I want this to be something that can work for any path.

Kamui loved her family above all else. As much as she wanted peace, it all came down to family. That was what her priority really was. She wanted nothing more than to make it so that everyone she cared for could live happily together, but it was nearly impossible because of a stupid war for some unreasonable cause. She hated now the hostility between Nohr and Hoshido hurt those closest to her, especially one of her little brothers.

To be honest, she didn't think much of him when they first met. Takumi was a stranger; he was part of the royal Hoshidans who claimed to be her family. Plus, he acted like a paranoid jerk with trust issues, even with the people who have known him for years. Kamui just didn't know how to react. Especially after her mother's death, she wanted nothing more than to avoid the younger man.

However, when the time came for her to make a choice between her two families, she realized just how much she cared for each of them, including Takumi. It was around then that she began to understand the reasoning behind his behavior. It was then that she began to know his pain.

Since Takumi was a little boy, the Nohrians were nothing more than the barbarians who were trying to destroy his family. It was King Garon who mercilessly murdered his father. It was King Garon who kidnapped his older sister to be raised as an enemy. It was King Garon who planned the killing of his mother. It only made sense for a little boy to develop a fierce distrust towards anyone connected to Garon, and by extent, anyone connected to Nohr. It was likely the only comfort he had as a young child. To him, blaming someone to get rid of his sorrow was probably the natural way to keep from losing his sanity as the little boy he was back then. It simply carried on through the years, making him the way he was now. Deep down inside, he probably just wanted to protect the loved ones he had left.

Once she realized this, Kamui wanted so badly to comfort him and heal the old scars that the rest of her family no doubt also held. But it was so hard to reach him, to break through that barrier he had put up in order to hide the scared, lonely child locked within his heart. She wanted so desperately to protect him and hold him close, like she vaguely remembered doing as a young girl when she still lived in Hoshido. She wanted to tell him that he could trust her and that everything could work out.

But he was so far out of her reach.

Kamui watched over him when she could. He would always try to push her away, but she would always come back to save him. It's just what older sisters naturally do, even if it sometimes gets annoying. Takumi may not see it, but everything she did was for her family's benefit. Neither of them would know the final effects of the war on the kingdoms, but they would continue to protect the ones they cared for most.

However, in the end, despite his attitude, his flaws, and his annoying trust issues, Kamui still saw Takumi as her beloved little brother.
