Author's Notes: Comes from my recent fannish post of doom in my Livejournal, where I suggested people give me pairings & random objects or words as prompts, and I would write a comment!fic, the length of an LJ comment or shorter. This fic prompted Tony/McGee and Brokeback Mountain. This is a take on a missing scene from "Dead and Unburied."
The wind swished gently around Tony and McGee's sitting forms. Tony whacked his flashlight a few times, and when it finally flickered on, proceeded to make scary faces into the beam. He then turned the light on McGee, who had an unamused look on his face.
"What's the matter, Probester? Are you . . . afraid?" He made another ghoulish face and added a demonic chuckle for spite.
McGee grabbed the flashlight from Tony's hands. "I'm glad you're enjoying yourself, but I'm bored out of my mind. I wish Abby were here. Or Ziva. Or Gibbs. Or . . . "
"Okay, I get it," Tony commented. "Anyone's better than me, right? You could at least pretend you enjoy my company."
"Tony, all you do is make fun of me. And when you're not doing that, you're acting like a pubescent teenager."
"Your point? McGee, ya gotta learn to lighten up. Have some fun. Live in the moment." He slapped McGee on the back, then turned to the horizon. "Hey, look at it this way. The sun's almost up. Then we'll be back at the office and you have all those fun people like Gibbs to keep you company." When McGee turned to glare at Tony, he found Tony smiling widely and giving him two thumbs up, and he shook his head instead.
"Tony, I . . . "
"Shh," Tony interrupted him, and directed his gaze towards the treeline in the distance. "The sun's coming up."
McGee watched as the sun slowly peeked through the fringe of pines, and then turned to look at Tony. He was seeing a different side of him here - a side that wanted to watch the sun come up.
Tony suddenly swiveled and saw McGee watching him. He smiled and then, with only the slightest moment of hestitation, leaned in and kissed him.
McGee blushed, surprised, but didn't pull away. When Tony did pull away, he laced his fingers through McGee's, smiling.
McGee smiled, too, and as he faced forward, asked, "Now what are we gonna say we did when Ziva asks us?"
Tony shrugged. "Watched the sun rise. What else?"
McGee shook his head, still grinning. "Yeah. What else indeed."
