Unfolding Nights
Chapter 1
"I can't do this."
"What are you talking about? You look absolutely sexy!"
"Yeah, to any pedophile out there. Come on Viv, I look more like a little kid," I whined, adding to the effect of looking like a child.
I'm Daisuke Niwa, and my friend is Vivian Jones, who insists on tormenting me to this party. I'm 5'3, outrageous red hair, and look like a girl. I've never dated, or even have had a kiss. Vivian is my only and best friend, and I don't even know why, but we have ever since first grade. She has a really wild spirit and is always up for an adventure in the woods or at a big party. I have thought about dating her before, but she has a boyfriend, and I wouldn't want to lose my best friend. And besides, I like guys a little better.
"Your seriously don't have anything else I can wear? You had to buy that?" I watched her shrug with that grin on her face.
"Okay, I'm leaving. Have fun at your par-," I was saying when Vivian grabbed my arm and interrupted me.
"No, you have to come! It's going to be so much fun. I know you will enjoy it this time."
"It'll just turn out the same as every party. You go hang out with everybody, while I sit in the corner doing nothing," I sighed. I am sick of going to parties and just being ignored. "Why don't you just go with Tony?"
I watched as her head tipped down so slightly and I knew that look on her face. She was about to cry, but wouldn't let herself do it. She spoke off in the distance, not really paying attention to me, "we had a fight and he has a job interview tomorrow, so he didn't want to be out late."
Shit, I feel like a great friend. She told me about his interview the other day and I forgot. Probably means she'll use that against me to go with her to the party. Damnit… I sighed to myself with a though of how much this party was not going to be fun.
"Why do you always want me to go to these parties anyways?"
"Because I hate seeing you like this."
"Like what?"
"Depressed."
"I'm not depressed."
"You are too. I can see it in your eyes. You always look like your lost in this other world that you think can never exist. I want to make it exist for you." I looked away; I couldn't stand the pity in her eyes.
I'm in this world. I'm not living in some fantasy world," I let the anger leak into my voice. She sighed, showing that she was frustrated with me.
"Fine, just don't come then if you really hate it that much."
"I'll go, but," I said, hoping she would actually do it.
"But what?"
"You have to not run away from me right away." I watched her bite her lower lip, think how hard she'd have to really try to stay by me for awhile.
"Viv? Can you do it?"
"I'll try."
"No, don't try, do."
"I'l-," she bit her lip again harder, "I'll do it."
"Thank you Viv."
"For what?"
"For being my best friend."
"You know I could never leave you," she exclaimed hugging me tightly.
Sorry, I know. I'm a really bad writer and should just stop, but I like to have fun with things even though it is kinda shitty.
I know everyone says it, but reviews and comments are greatly appreciated, especially critical critiquing. Hopefully I'll actually get to chapter 2 on this one. Let's just have hope that I get to write down all my ideas some day when I'm bored during class and then forget it all and end up not finishing a story, yet again. *Scratches back of head* heh...
