Michael is Here.
Ulrich was impatiently and nervously waiting in the hospital waiting room for Yumi. Alongside him was Odd and his wife, Solana. They heard that Yumi went into labor and that both her and Ulrich were expecting their first child: a baby boy whom they have named Michael Akio Stern.
Ulrich was not only concerned for Yumi's condition's, but the baby's as well. "Don't worry, Ulrich," Solana said while putting her hand on his shoulder. "I'm sure that both Yumi and Michael are going to be okay."
"But what if neither the baby or Yumi doesn't make it?" Ulrich said in a concerned "What If?" tone. "Don't worry, good buddy. You just need to have faith in both of them." Odd said reassuringly. "Okay."
Two short minutes later, a doctor came towards the three adults.
"Mr. Ulrich Stern?" he asked.
Ulrich stood up and said, "Yes?"
The doctor said, "Congratulations, you are now a new father."
Ulrich gasped and Solana hugged (more like glomped) Odd in a happy and relieved state, followed by a kiss on the cheek. "Can we see them?" asked Odd.
"Of course you can." the doctor replied, as he was followed by the trio into Yumi's room.
As Odd, Ulrich, and Solana entered Yumi's room, Ulrich walked over to Yumi's bedside, and greeted her with a hello. "Hi, sweetie." replied Yumi.
"How are you feeling?" asked Solana.
"A little painful, but I'm fine. Would you like to see the baby?" All three nodded. Yumi then carefully unwrapped the little bundle and inside a little blue blanket was a baby boy with black hair and green eyes, with a similar appearance to Yumi's brother, Hiroki. Ulrich looked down at his son and said, "Hello, Michael."
He reached down his pointer finger and rubbed it against his light skinned cheek. Ulrich had felt a sense of accomplishment running through him. For the first time, he was a father.
"Aww!" Solana piped up with a grin on her face. "He's so adorable."
"I wonder what this kid's gonna be like," said Yumi, with Michael still in her arms.
"Who knows? He might turn out to be just like his Uncle Odd!" Odd said pointing to himself in a heroic stance.
In response to his statement, Solana landed a soft punch to Odd's shoulder.
Yumi looked at Michael, then Ulrich, then back to Michael again.
"Do you want to hold him?" She asked.
Ulrich was feeling nervous when the question popped up. What if he did something to hurt his son while in his arms? What if something happens to injure Michael? He was already a day old, after all.
"You don't have to be scared, Ulrich." Yumi comforted him in a soothing voice.
Those words hit him deep. She was right. He had nothing to be afraid of, especially with his new son in the picture.
Ulrich then picked up his son in his blanket, sat down in a chair, and adjusted Michael so that he woudn't feel any pain.
He gazed at the black haired wonder, his own son, in realization that he was finally here.
Michael then, surprisingly, opened his eyes after shutting them, and gave Ulrich his first baby smile, followed by a soft coo.
"Welcome to the world, Michael Akio Stern."
