Prolog: The Accident

Max's POV:

We were attacked by strange mutant cheetah guys. I had thought that they were after Angel, so when I found her; I went straight to guarding her.

"Max! They're not here for me! They're here for your memory!"

Angel screamed her warning at me, but it was already too late. One of the cheetah dudes grabbed me by my neck and plunged a strange needle through my temple. Then, blank... Nothing…

I had collapsed to the ground. I heard a sweet loving familiar voice scream;

"Max! I love you! Don't forget that!"

"I won't," I had softly promised, not sure who the promise had been for; but I honestly meant it.
