Lyra Heartstrings was sitting on a bench, thinking about humans. They had been in Ponyville only a few months ago... and she hadn't even caught a glimpse of one! She sighed and looked up at the sky, where Rainbow Dash was whizzing around, practicing her latest trick for the Wonderbolts. How nice it must be to have an ambition! Of course, Lyra had one too: to meet a human. They fascinated the unicorn, but they were nowhere to be found most of the time.

Lyra looked up again, and saw that Rainbow was conversing angrily with Ditzy Doo. The grey cross-eyed pegasus puzzled Lyra. How strange it must be to have your eyes permanently crossed! Of course, they weren't permanent, but Ditzy made out that it was. Lyra had only seen the mailmare with normal eyes once.

The unicorn watched as Rainbow gestured furiously at the nearby cloud-rings hovering in the air. Most resembled squashed flying doughnuts. Ditzy simply smiled - a little goofily - and promised Rainbow that she would fix the rainbow-maned pony's cloud-rings. Right now, she had a letter to deliver.

Lyra could tell because of the mail satchel around the pegasus's body. She watched as Ditzy waved goodbye to Rainbow, then fly down to where she was sitting.

"Hi, Heart Lyrastrings!" called Ditzy, as though she was a mile away from the unicorn. "I got some letters for you!"

"Really?" asked Lyra interestedly. Nopony ever wrote to her, except for the big important ponies up in Canterlot who were responsible for ponies paying their bills all over Equestria.

"Eeyup!" replied Ditzy loudly. She seemed to think that she was suddenly Big Macintosh.

Lyra summoned the magical sparkling aura around her horn. The same aura surrounded Ditzy's satchel, and the flap opened. Lyra searched through the jumble of letters, then drew one out at the very bottom. It had her name and address on it.

Ditzy dug her head into her satchel and brought out another letter in her mouth. She gave it to Lyra, then shut her satchel flap and watched Lyra open her first letter with magic, her eyes bright at the prospect of having delivered two letters to the correct addressee.

Dear Lyra Heartstrings, (it read)

Lyra placed the letter on the bench beside her, then took the next letter from Ditzy. When she opened it, a golden harp with delicate, well-made strings popped out. On the side in fancy curled writing was the name "Lyra Heartstrings".

"D'you like it, d'you like it?" asked Ditzy, frantically jumping up and down on the spot.

"It's great!" exclaimed Lyra happily.

"I asked the Instrument Music Delivery Assistance to get it to you super-fast!" continued Ditzy, jumping even faster.

"Thanks, Ditzy!" said Lyra, smiling at the pegasus as she used magic to look at her new harp from every angle.

"And it's also free-of-charge!" added Ditzy.

"Really?" asked Lyra, looking at her.

"Yup!" said Ditzy proudly. "Well, good morning!"

And she flew off. Lyra watched her go, strumming the strings of her harp and thinking once more about humans.
