Harry Potter and the Time Travel Globe

Chapter2

The Forbidden Room

The next morning, Harry Potter sat on his bed, pondering over his dream. He could only remember fragments of it, the screaming, and that high, cruel cackle as the dream ended. Yet he had a feeling that it had all happened before, long ago.

Distractedly, he pulled on a pair of socks and shoes, then headed out to the breakfast hall.

"Hey, Harry, wait up!"

Harry turned around, and saw Ron Weasley, his friend, calling after him. He waited patiently as the crowd surged around him.

"What's up? Why didn't you wait for me to go to the hall with you?" inquired Ron.

Harry just shook his head. Just then, there came a nasal voice to the left of him.

"I see differently coloured socks are in fashion now, huh?"

"I don't know what you mean," replied Harry in a tight voice.

"Well then, just look down at your feet, Potter. Or is your nose too high in the air to do that?" smirked Malfoy.

Harry looked down at his feet, flushing with embarrassment when he realised that he was wearing a red sock and a green sock.

"Oh, just leave him, why don't you?" Ron snarled.

Malfoy only smiled unpleasantly, and raised his voice so that the crowd could hear. "Look at Potter! He's wearing differently coloured socks. Only babies do that. Or perhaps Potter here was thinking of his parents too much?" he added, as he brought his face close to Harry's, in a sneer.

Harry flushed, pulling out his wand, but before he could cast a spell, Professor MacGonagall intervened, urging everyone back to his or her respective tables.

Harry sat down beside Hermione, who asked him anxiously, "What was all that about Harry?"

"Malfoy," Ron replied angrily. "He was-"

He stopped in mid-speech as Dumbledore stepped up in front of the whole school with his arms out-stretched for silence.

"Boys and girls, there is something important I have to announce before you start eating. I trust you are all very hungry, so I'll make it short. Now, I presume you all know that room in the south wing of the school?" A chorus of 'Yes's sounded, and Dumbledore resumed his announcement. "There is, at the moment, something extremely valuable there. I do not want to see any of you lingering there. There will be teachers on patrol every minute of the day, and anyone caught trying to get in will be brought straight to me. I repeat, no one is to go near that room." The last remark seemed to be directed at Harry.

Oh well, thought Harry. I'll TRY not to go near there. It's not like I go looking for trouble. Trouble usually finds ME.
