Mulder could not wait to go pick up Scully. Today was her
birthday and he decided to treat her to dinner tonight. Although,
that was not the only present Mulder was planning to give her.

As he reached her apartment, he took a deep breath and
knocked. He wondered why he was so nervous, he thought, "This is
Scully we're talking about." From the inside of her apartment, he
could here her hairdryer going.

"Come in!" Scully yelled as she began curling her hair.

"Scully, we have to leave in about ten minutes if we want to make
our reservation.'

"I know, I know. It's just that I have never been to the La Maria
before and it's really nice and-"

"Don't worry, you look fine"

"Really?"

"Really."

"Okay then, let's go Mulder."

As they were driving to the La Maria, Mulder was getting more and more nervous. His palms started to sweat and he got butterflies in his stomach.

"Mulder are you okay? Maybe we should go back."

"No Scully, I'm fine. Probably just a little carsick.'

As they were getting out of the car, Mulder put his hand on the small of her back and escorted her into the restaurant.

"Wow, Mulder! You are being quite the gentleman!" Scully said, jokingly.

"Well, I have always been a savvy guy," Mulder joked back.

Scully just looked at him and laughed.

Dinner was great. They both had meals whose names they could not pronounce and a very expensive red wine.

As they finished up their dessert Scully said, "Thanks, Mulder this has been a great birthday."

"Well, I also got you something else."

Mulder pulled out a little velvet box that jewelry comes in and handed it to her.

"You got me jewelry!"

"Well, yeah," Mulder said in a childish voice. "Open it."

Scully's eyes widened in a look of disbelief and hope. "Mulder is this a-"

But it was too late. Mulder was already down on one knee about to make his proposal speech. "Look. I know that we have never been 'romantically involved' or anything, but I love you with all my heart. Nothing would make me happier than if you said you would be my wife. Wadda ya say "Mrs. Spooky?"

As Mulder looked up, he saw tears streaming down Scully's face, and he knew her answer before she said it. Nevertheless, Scully looked down at him and said, "Mulder, you have always said that the truth was out there. And I have just found mine."
