Sonny was fuming. So it was his mother's fault Will cancelled their date. He had told her to stay out of his love life and she just couldn't do it, could she? Goddammit.

He walked through Horton Town Square on his way to Sami's apartment to find Will. He needed to set the record straight. Just as he was walking past the couches, Sonny spotted a flash of blond hair and a blazer across the Square. Sure it was Will, Sonny hurriedly made his way over to the opposite side of the plaza.

"Will!" Will stopped briefly at the sound of his name, but didn't turn around. After a second, he continued walking towards the park. Sonny ran after him. "Will! Will, wait up!"

A minute later, Sonny caught up with Will on the edge of the park. "Will!" Sonny grabbed his hand. "Please, just stop!"

Will pulled his hand away, but turned around to face Sonny. "Look, Sonny, I'm sorry about cancelling our date. I had to go to the baseball with Johnny."

"You're lying. I know why you cancelled," Sonny retorted. "You overheard my mom and dad talking."

Will pursed his lips and didn't say anything. Sonny continued. "I don't know exactly what you heard, but you have to know that's how my mom feels. Not me."

"Your mom's right, though. You deserve better than me. Like she said, my parents aren't exactly great models for a relationship and a year ago I was with Gabi and I would rather have gone to prison than admit I was gay," Will explained. "You should be with someone who doesn't need to take things slow."

"But I want to be with you," Sonny responded immediately.

Will blinked at him, his mouth hanging open a little. "Why?" Will asked quietly.

"Well, first, it's not like my family is the best model for a relationship either. The Johnsons and the Kiriakises both have their own kinds of baggage. Second, Will, you are an amazing person. Everyone deals with their sexuality in their own way. You were uncomfortable with it a year ago, but you're not now. You liked working for EJ. So what? Lots of people would work for him and enjoy the fancy new car and new apartment. I probably would have too. You have such a great heart," Sonny said, tentatively taking Will's hand in his. When Will didn't pull away, he gripped harder and continued, "You love your family so much. That's why you got so angry at your mom last year. And you take such good care of your little brother and sisters. As a little brother, I can say from personal experience how important it is to have a big brother like you are. Most importantly, I love spending time with you. You make me laugh. We have so much in common. The best parts of my day are the parts when I get to see you. You make my heart beat ten times faster than normal. You're my best friend, Will. Why wouldn't I want to be with you? Sonny finished speaking, his breathing a little quicker than usual.

Will stared at him, his own breathing a little shallower than normal. It also seemed like Will's eyes were shining with tears.

"Will? Are you alright?" Sonny asked, panicked.

Will swallowed thickly, nodded slightly, and pulled his hand out of Sonny's.

"I – You mean what you just said?"

"Of course."

For a couple of seconds, Will looked like he was debating something with himself. Then he moved a little closer to Sonny and gently cupped his face in his hands.

Sonny's breath hitched as Will leaned in to him. A second later, their lips connected in a soft kiss. Will pulled away after a few seconds, but he immediately leaned in again for a firmer, more confident kiss. Taking a chance, Sonny wrapped his arms around Will's waist; Will responded by wrapping his arms around Sonny's neck and slipping his tongue into Sonny's mouth.

They stayed kissing at the edge of the park for a good ten minutes, unaware that Lucas had heard and seen the whole conversation.
