The well had been closed a year now and he was still sad. He missed her. The way she took care of him, the way she made pleasant chatter while they traveled across the country, how she snuggled him at night, the warmth of her hugs, her smile, her shiny eyes, her smell, and her hair. He missed the way she dressed, how she sat the baka, and how she soothed the group.
He also missed her comfort. The way she smiled warmly at him, brought ninja food from her time, shared all her modern conveniences with him like her towels, her shampoo and soaps, and her crayons and coloring books. He missed bathing with her, playing with her and how she cared for him. She was his Momma.
Sometimes, when no was looking, he would sneak away from the village children and go out to the well. He had never been able to travel to her time with her but he knew this is how she came and went. When he wanted to feel close to her or missed her too much he would come here to sit, talk to her and let her know the things that had been going on with the group, or meditate, trying to fill himself with everything he felt for her and send it down the well to her. Maybe she would hear him. Maybe the well would let his love pass through.
And whenever he noticed the sun reach a certain point in the sky he would bound off, being careful not to be caught at the well by the baka that sent her away. He wasn't mad at him anymore and understood why he had done it, but that didn't mean he had forgiven him, either.
They all needed to set her in the past and leave her there, however the child just couldn't forget. She lived in him even if she didn't live with him anymore.
