It had been some time since Koga had seen Kagome and he was headed to the village she stayed in to find her. Naraku had been defeated almost a month ago and he felt he had given her ample time to say her goodbyes to her group. Of course they would always be welcome in his lands but it was time for her to leave them behind and come with him to be his mate. He realized she had always denied him but Koga felt sure Kagome was only biding her time until Naraku was gone. After that happened he saw no reason for her to not want to return to the lands of his clan to be his mate.
As he approached the village he recognized the familiar youkai of Kagome's kit, the fire cat and Inuyasha. Koga was approached by the cat first. Kirara met him at the edge of the village as a full demon, roaring a warning to him before she stepped aside to let him pass. The cat's reaction unsettled him, feeling certain she had never approached him in such a way. Koga neared the center of the village and was stopped in his tracks by silver and red landing in front of him.
"Hey, dog breath, where's my woman?" Koga smirked confidently, never one to beat around the bush.
"She's not here, you mangy wolf, so why don't you get lost?" Inuyasha growled. Realizing he had hit a nerve, Koga prodded it.
"When's she get back? I came to claim her."
"Forget it, wolf. She won't be back. She isn't going to be your mate or anyone else's. At least not here." Inuyasha turned and left the surprised wolf standing in the middle of the village, as empty handed as he was.
