Shippo was learning, unsuccessfully, how to milk one of the village cows. Kagome was being more than patient but the lesson was taking longer than she thought necessary and the kitsune was making a huge mess. His aim was terrible and the milk was spraying anywhere but in the bucket. Trying to show off for some of the village girls he had tried to shoot a stream of fresh milk into the mouth of one of the waiting kittens that had gathered near them, however, instead of landing in its opened mouth, it ended up in the small kitty's eye. Another kitten he was trying to feed ended up soaked down the side when it turned at the last minute. The remaining kittens ran over the lick the yummy moo juice from its fur.
Sighing, Kagome released the fox kit to go play while she tried to gather what milk she could from the cow before she let it back out into the field. A few swift movements later and she found herself with almost half a bucket of milk for the evening meal Reaching up she untied the cow from the fence she had fastened it to earlier, picked up the bucket and turned to carry it back to her hut. Tripping over her stool the bucket went flying over her head and she fell to the ground on her back. She quickly put her arms over her face and waited for impact. The milk she had just gathered landed on her with a splash but the bucket never came down. Peaking over her arm she noticed her mate standing over her, holding it in his hand, grinning. With a huge sigh she flopped to the ground, soaking wet.
Today was not the day for gathering milk.
