"Did you know," Kagome began "that the light from stars will still reach us after the star burns out? Sometimes stars are so far away it takes years for rockets to reach them, so after they burn out it takes years for the light to shine out."
"You're just making that up, wench." Inuyasha groused.
"No, it's true! We learned that in my science class a couple years ago. And the reason stars sparkle is gases in space floating through the beam of light, causing it to break up on its way here."
Looking up at the night sky he was studying with her, then looking back at Kagome he was amazed. There was so much about the world he knew, and she continued to show him there was so much more about the world he didn't know.
"Have you ever noticed how some of the stars are positioned to make shapes in the sky? They're called constellations. And the reason the moon is lit up is because it reflects the light from the sun." Kagome continued her science lesson to her friend; unaware of the way he was staring at her.
Looking at her, Inuyasha saw nothing he had ever seen before when Kagome looked at him and he saw the heavens in her eyes. Every star he had ever secretly wished on, every dream he had buried in his heart was reflected in the light of her eyes. Tonight, he was thankful for Kagome sharing with him what she knew because it gave him the chance to see the light of this world through her eyes.
