Night had fallen, and the candles were burnt to stubs. In the dark, the midwife was trying her hardest to help my mother through birth.
"Oh dear," she said, with a look of grief on her face. "It appears that the plague has not only affected you, but your child as well…There's not much I can do…"
"Please, tell me my son will be born," my mother pleaded, but she was losing her sanity to the plague. "Save my baby, even if I must die in the process."
"I will try to, Lady Grest, I will-," but she had stopped abruptly, and a strange look came over her face. She was being possessed by Cenarius, the god of nature.
"On this night, a tragedy shall befall the world, and so, I shall bestow a great light upon this unborn child. These lands that I have tried to protect have been scarred and burned, by the Great Plague. As the God of Nature, it is my divine duty to do all I can to save this world from the Burning Legion and the Scourge. Your child will be born with a special Light, and with this power, he will be able to truly defeat the evil that is the Scourge. It is sad for me to have to do this, but in giving your child light, I must take your own life. Secrets and deception, that is not a fair way for you to die, so I shall free you from this world tonight. Light bless you."
The midwife woke suddenly, as if from a deep sleep, and could here crying. She must have been out of it for a while, because the child had been born, and it was a boy.
She took the child over to Lady Grest, and asked her, "My Lady, what shall be your child's name?"
It seemed to take Lady Grest a lot of strength to put out the words, the name of her prophetic son. "Jor…dain," she said, and with that she fell silent.
The midwife knew that now, with Lady Grest dead, she must find Lord Rael Grest and tell him of his child's birth. She didn't know that I, Lyda Grest, had seen the whole thing. She didn't know that I had witnessed my mother's death, and knew of my brother's destiny.
It's been eighteen years since that day, and my family is still living in the small town of Hillsbrad Fields, though, my father hasn't been seen lately, due to the ongoing war with the Horde, and the Scourge.
