With most of their female candidates being either Mary Sues, stereotypical caricatures, or blatent rip offs from other fandoms, Sunspyre Weyr's latest Hatching can only be Destined for Disaster.

Inspired by some authors on this site and others, I've decided to attempt a few drabbles myself. These will primarily focus on a segment of Pernese society that is seldom mentioned and will feature both canon and original characters.

While on a brief survey mission, a team of explorers from the Federated Sentient Planets discovers an ancient message rocket floating dead in space. Who had sent it? Why? Most importantly, where had it come from? Little did one of those explorers realize it would lead to a lost fragment of history and a journey to uncover the truth!

Plenty has been written about what happens at the start of a Pass on Pern, but how does the planet react to a change over from fighting Threadfall to the long Intervals during which the Weyrs are no longer needed to fight the voracious Thread? A century after the end of Thread, the weyrs struggle to find their new purpose. Turmoil stirs in Pern, as holders are no longer content to support the riders and their dragons. Some riders believe they should be ruling Pern, creating dissent among those they should be calling allies. Every Pernese knows one thing, deep down inside: change is inevitable, for better or for worse.

A series of vignettes in an AU where Lessa dies early and Kylara becomes Weyrwoman of Benden. T'bor rather than F'lar is now Weyrleader of Benden. How might the Ninth Pass look?

After a Long Interval, the Fifth Pass has begun. Fort Weyr experiences terrible losses under Weyrwoman Belia and Weyrleader J'vrex. When Threadfall claims Belia's life, N'thal of Benden Weyr finds himself tasked with investigating the problems at Fort.

This story will be moved to AO3, link found in 13, NOTE A young girl from the northern continent, Mercy, has been sent to the southern hold for fostering. On a long trip gathering, she could never have foreseen what she would find. A fire lizard nest. And what is up with the old-timers? Drawn into the dysfunctional southern weyr and all its internal struggle, will she fly or fall?

.Just stories about a holder girl and her fire lizard

Mothering is something best left to Holders. Sensible weyrbred girls shouldn't want screaming brats around. Jani of Igen Wery has been told this all her life, but loves and keeps her son, Saran, anyway, even at the cost of her wanted career. As she and her baby watch a Hatching, Jani discovers that maybe being a mother is not so bad after all.

I want to see about developing this story. Give me feedback on what you think. I'm still working on my other one. Kelly never really considered herself a normal person, despite living a normal life. An encounter with a person that seems to be from worlds away makes her wonder if he is for real, or really out of his mind.

Master Harper Domick ends up on Earth at a Ren Faire. Romance and comedy ensue. *Updated to Chapter 23*
