Drabbles: Stories of exactly 100 words
The first in a series of 100 (I hope!)
Young woman driving from Montmarte. Handsome middle-aged man on side of road, broken down car. Stop.
"Car's not fixable. No time to go back."
"Where are you headed?"
"Dijon."
"I know it well."
"So do I."
"Well, hop in. I'll take you there."
"John Steed."
"Emma Peel."
Hops in. Admires her driving. Admires her profile. Flatter her. "Taking a vacation from university?"
"No. Business. Knight Enterprises."
Dijon.
"Turn right!"
"No, left's better!"
Chateau. Dinner. Chablis. Reaches over to caress soft hand. "What do they call you at Knight Enterprises, Emma?"
Withdraws hand. Gives him look. "They call me Mrs. Peel."
