*When everyone is awake, have had breakfast and are dressed, Brendan takes everyone out for a walk*
"Where are we going?" Lucas asks, clinging to Ste's hand
"Just a little walk"
"Can we go swimming when we get back?"
"I don't see why not"
"Will we swim with the fishes today?" Leah chirps
"Not today" Brendan says
"oh!" the kids chorus
"But we can splash about in the pool until our hearts are content"
"Cool!"
"Can I have a blow up dolphin?" Leah says tipping her head and batting her eyelashes
Brendan smiles "Sure"
Ste laughs "She's got you wrapped around her little finger, Our Leah has"
Brendan just grins. "Well it's a good job I love yis all ain't it?" he says walking into a shop and picking up a blow up dolphin. "What about you little man?" he says crouched down to Lucas' level
Lucas thinks silently whilst inspecting all the pool toys on offer. After a few minutes of searching for an inflatable dinosaur with no luck he decides to go with a toy shark. Brendan picks up two Lilos and pays for everything before handing them out.
"I'm gonna call my dolphin Princess!" Leah says skipping down the road
"I'm calling my shark Derek!" Lucas says holding onto Ste and Brendan's hands.
"Derek the shark?" Ste says trying to hold back a laugh "Unique"
"No daddy, not unique, Derek" Lucas says
"Oh yes my mistake" Ste says giving a big smile to the Brendan.
They get back to the hotel and everyone changes into their swimming stuff and as Ste rubs sun cream into the kids skin Brendan realises he forgot something. A pump. Brendan starts huffing and puffing to inflate the pool toys.
"Daddy, Why has Daddy Brendan gone so red?" Leah asks after 10 minutes of blowing and one successfully inflated dolphin and Lilo.
"Bren, honey, take a break"
"I'll be….fine!" He puffs
"Pass it here and let me take a turn before you pass out" Ste says taking the other Lilo out of his hands.
After much huffing and puffing and two very dizzy daddies everything's ready for the pool.
The kids run out yelling and waving their toys around while Ste and Brendan walk out hand in hand with a Lilo under their other arm. They get into the pool and the kids are already splashing around with other kids.
"Daddy watch me!" Leah calls
"Ok sweetie" Brendan and Ste call simultaneously
Leah gets out the pool and moves to where it's deep enough and jumps in on her dolphin and she glides across the pool. She jumps up. "Daddy! Did you see? Did you see?"
"I sure did" Ste says beaming
"Well done Princess" Brendan says.
Lucas yells from the shallow end. "Daddy Brendan! I need you now!"
"Be back in a minute" Brendan says to Ste as he wades over to Lucas. "What's up Son?"
"Daddy Brendan? Will you teach me to swim? Leah nearly can and I want to too"
"Of course I'll teach you!"
"Don't tell daddy I want it to be a surprise."
"Ok I won't say anything" Brendan says miming to lock his lips
"I want to make him proud!"
"Oh Lucas, daddy's always proud of you. We both are and so is your mummy"
"I know but I want this to be a surprise and I know you'll keep me safe and won't let me get hurt"
Brendan's touched by this little boy. He could barely get one word out of him and now here he is asking for Brendan to teach him how to swim.
"Ok we'll wake up early every day and I'll get you swimming like a fish by the end"
Lucas hugs him. "Thanks Daddy Brendan"
"No worries Son" he says hugging him back.
