Sides

Charlotte saw a lot of sides to Henry, that perhaps no one else did. Most people saw the clumsy, eccentric inventor, who said wrong things at the wrong times and frequently set himself on fire by his own idiocy. Yet she knew the caring and gently Henry, with his bright, adorably concerned hazel eyes and his reassuring words and gestures of encouragement that got her through the day. Then there was the Henry that kissed her, laughed with her, helped her, hugged her, the Henry that made her heart melt with his words of love and gratitude, always making sure she wasn't working without a break.

The Shadowhunter side of him was very different to all his others, his strength and courage brought up clear in his determined face as he killed the demons that dare harm his family.

And then there was possibly the most adorable side to him of all: being a father. It made her heart swell whenever she saw him interact with Charles, play with him, entertain him and help her look after him. She remembered walking in on them playing on the floor, Henry making up stories with Charles' toys and amusing him with peekaboo.

There were so many other sides to him that she adored and admired, every single emotion he felt and every word he said she loved about him and that was what made her realise:

All of his different sides were the reason that she loved him. The crazy and peculiar, the caring and concerned, the funny, the loving, the brave, the fatherly, the lazy, the ashamed, the tired, the angry, the bad cook, the inventor, the vulnerable...

There were different sides to him she saw in the different minutes and seconds and hours of the different days and weeks and months;

And she realised that they all made up the man she loved.
