Short story: Nala's reaction to her best friend's supposed death. Her thoughts and description of her emotions as she realized he was gone.
I own nothing. The Lion King and all its content and characters belong to their respectful owners. I don't own the cover image either.
Enjoy the story!
It was all too much for her to take in. The news struck her like a lightning bolt with so much shock going through her. She had known Simba from her time at birth and now he was gone, along with his father.
The memories of the times they had together coursed through her mind. The times they played with each other, the times they explored with one another. Their adventures, every single one of them. Even the most recent times surfaced up. Ditching Zazu around the Watering Hole, heading into the Elephant Graveyard without anyone knowing, being rescued by his father, the king. Every single precious memory came up. Now they would never have any fun together anymore.
Sarabi, the queen, cried before her. Nala's heart throbbed with pity for her. Simba was her best friend, but he was her son. She had lost both him and her husband, the king, in one day. Her heart must be breaking for the both of them.
Nala sniffed and rubbed against her mother's paw as Scar spoke. She hoped that the both of them, Mufasa and Simba, were up with the Great Kings of the Past now. She hoped they would be happy up there while they looked down and watched over them below. She had always imagined it be nice up there, no death, no darkness, just light and family.
With that final happy thought for her best friend, she leaned closer against her mother's paw and let the tears flow.
"Goodbye forever, my friend. I'll miss you, but I will never forget you."
Why did I decide to do sad stories for Valentine's Day? Why? It's supposed to be happy! Oh, by the way, Happy Valentine's Day.
Interestingly enough, when I was looking up the scene to do this story for, I noticed in an earlier part of the scene of this we see Sarafina with colored paw pads, but in the next when Nala is crying against her mother's paw they are the same color as the rest of her fur. Hmm, must be one of the mistakes in the film.
Thanks for reading, sorry if this made you sad or cry. Please leave a review with some feedback, it's appreciated. Sincerely, v.t.7
