Being assigned to a mission without her normal team was an irritation, but since it was beyond her control she didn't voice the irritation. That didn't mean that it was nonexistent. There were many little things she was in the habit of doing with her team, certain roles that would be fulfilled that an outsider would not do the same way. On the reverse of the spectrum, her teammates were used to her habits and roles.
Having Kiba offer to catch her dinner, or Choji offer to help with her tent may be chivalrous, but she was perfectly capable in both those areas thank you very much. She let it go as attempts to be nice the first time, the second and third offers however were just pure irritation. Ten Ten comforted herself with the fact this was a simple courier mission and it would be over in just a few short days.
When the enemy ninja ambushed them, she planned as usual to use her sniper-like accuracy to assail them from a distance. She pulled out one of her many weapon scrolls, this one would offer her a nice verity of kunai's. That plan however was about to be cast aside when Kiba uttered the words, "Just stay back Ten Ten, Choji and I will handle everything."
The burning desire to hurt things, strike that, certain loud mouth ninja was escalating by the second. She grabbed Kiba by the shag-rug he called hair and pulled his face around to see the rage in her eyes. "Listen here bub. Go over to that tree, and don't move or I WILL stab you. IS THAT CLEAR!"
Taken aback (to put it mildly) Kiba was speechless and meekly nodded. He joined Choji standing off to the sidelines and watch Ten Ten take on the other 3 ninja by herself. They found themselves unable to get within 3 feet of her. Soon there were resembling pincushions as Ten Ten put no less then 6 knives in each of them before they decided this wasn't where they wanted to be.
When all was said and done Choji complement her and her fighting abilities. As for Kiba, he learned a valuable lesson. Ten Ten had more knives then he ever imagined and was very willing to use them.
