Tennis Player's Prayer

Courage grows out of control,

Fear steps a side,

Nerves fade away,

All that is left is the game.

The ball goes up,

The racket comes down,

Now the game begins,

The battle of wills.

Each player plays their own way,

Skills, power, acrobatics, and the mind,

To each their own,

The battle is on.

Skills are hard,

But not impossible,

With practice and time,

They will last throughout the battle.

Power is rare,

But nice for doubles,

However, alone they may stumble,

They will fight the hardest in the battle.

Acrobatics are natural and noble,

But only for doubles,

With determination and timing,

They will fight the dirtiest.

Mind is a weapon,

But acts only in percentages,

With the numbers and equations,

They will lose the battle.

When a player has all four,

May God have mercy have on your soul,

For the player will play hard,

The battle in the end will be hard to win.
